Privacy policy

You have trusted us with your name, email address and post code.

In return, we promise we will not give or sell your details to anyone else. We may send you emails occasionally, and it’s likely that in the run up to elections, we will email more frequently. We hope you’ll always find them interesting – but if not, you can opt out of receiving them at any time, without revoking your membership of the site.

Posting on the site

If you post on the site (whether under your log-in name or anonymously), what you write has entered the public domain. By submitting a comment for posting, you agree to our comments policy, notably the section which describes what we consider to be inappropriate material. We can use your post in other literature at a later date if we wish, but we will always try to contact you before we do.

If you send us an article to post, we reserve the right to edit or refuse your article.

You may of course use a pseudonym to post; we promise that we will not reveal your real name.

Comments policy

We want everyone’s voice to be heard on Platform 10. We moderate your posts, but we try to do it with a light touch. If you are registered, you can normally post without waiting for your comment to be moderated (though we may remove it if we consider it inappropriate – see below). If you post anonymously, it may not appear until we have approved it. Our decision to remove or not publish a post is final.

If you believe a post or comment to be inappropriate, and we haven’t removed or flagged it, please contact us by emailing post@platform10.org

We define inappropriate material as follows:

  • Abusive, threatening, obscene, or offensive material
  • Posts which are libellous or defamatory
  • Posts which are racist, homophobic, sexist, overly sexual or otherwise unacceptable in our view. We are liberal people but we won’t publish something that we feel is offensive
  • Multiple postings (includes reposting your own content or reposting someone else’s)
  • Advertisements of commercial products
  • Copyrighted material
  • Reposting entire articles/blog posts from other sources
  • Impersonation of someone else, including other users

Anything of this nature posted on the site will be removed by moderators, and repeat offenders will have their accounts cancelled.

Our view is that, unless you would say something to someone’s face, you shouldn’t post it on the internet. You might think that’s a little idealist – we think it makes for a civilised discussion, and we will enforce it.
