Remember, it’s the economy stupid

I am currently making my way through the latest diary from Chris Mullin; ‘A Walk-On Part’. Anyone who enjoyed his previous diaries will gain the same amount of pleasure from reading his perspective on the birth of New Labour. As always, Mullin’s opinions are well observed.

As I was on the bus tonight one particular extract jumped out at me.

Saturday, 13 February 1999
Bill Clinton, faced with impeachment, has been acquitted on all counts. Proof, if any were needed, that you can get away with anything provided you get the economy right.
